Letter to Parents

27 January 2017 | General Interest

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I wish you a Happy New Year and the compliments of the season. Teachers met today and a very much looking forward in working with your son’s this year.

All boys return to school on Monday 30 January. This year the school will be paying special attention to attendance. I ask that any appointments be scheduled for times that don’t affect your son’s attendance. Absenteeism has been shown to be detrimental to student success at school. I have asked homeroom teachers to monitor this closely. Homeroom teachers will call you personally in the next fortnight to introduce themselves and remind parents again about the importance of attendance.

It is an expectation that all boys come to school with the correct haircut. Please see below for school policy on haircuts:

• Hair is to be clean and neatly cut off the collar of natural colour of even grade with extremes of fashion avoided. All students are to be clean-shaven at school. The following hairstyles are not permitted:
• Shaved, stepped, ringed undercut, steps, lines.
• Short cuts less than a number 2.
• Streaks, colour, dyes, or excessive gel.
• Hair is to be the same length on the back and sides.
• Long hair that covers the collar, the ears, or the eyes when brushed forward.
• Students are to be clean-shaven at school.
• Sideburns no lower than the earlobe.
• This list is not exhaustive. If there is any doubt, The Assistant Principal’s (Pastoral Care) judgement is final.

If your son comes to school with an incorrect haircut, you will be contacted and asked to take your son home until his hair conforms to school rules. On his return he will also be issued with a Saturday detention.

It is also important that your boy is well attired. Shirt tucked in, polished school shoes, school belt etc.

Thanking you in advance for your support on the above matters.
